A free meal for anyone in the village. No charge, no catch, no expectation. Come hungry, leave known.
What it is
A proper meal, and a seat at it
Every Tuesday afternoon we lay out the tables at the Community Centre, cook a proper meal, and open the doors.
Food goes out from five. There's nothing to pay and nothing to sign. Some weeks it's eighty people, some weeks it's thirty — either way there's a chair with your name on it, whether we know your name yet or not.
It started on a Tuesday in January 2026. Since then nearly a hundred and fifty different people from the village have eaten with us.
Can I come?

The honest answers to the questions people ask us most.
You don't need to be religious. Most people who come aren't, and nobody will ask.
You don't need to book. Turn up any Tuesday between 4:30 and 6:30.
You don't need to come with anyone. Plenty of people arrive on their own and leave having talked to half the room.
Children are welcome. Bring them, bring their friends, bring the neighbours.
Come every week or come once. Both are completely fine.
Tell us about allergies or anything you can't eat, and we'll sort it.
Why we do it
Church before it looks like church
We didn't set out to build a project. We set out tables. What happened after that wasn't really ours to plan — people came, and kept coming, and started looking out for each other.
The Table runs alongside Marston Moreteyne Parish Council, FareShare and volunteers from our local Co-op. Most of the people who eat with us have no connection to a church at all, and that is exactly as we hoped.

Could you help?
The Table runs on people. If you've got a couple of hours on a Tuesday, there's a job with your name on it:
- Cook — help get a hot meal out for a roomful of people.
- Set up or clear away — tables, chairs, the washing up nobody sings about.
- Welcome — meet people at the door and find them a seat.
- Sit and talk — genuinely the most important job of the lot.

Worth knowing: our Sunday services are also on Great Linns with the same postcode, but in a different building — the Forest End site of the school, a couple of minutes further along. The Table is at the Community Centre.
